This e-learning course offers a close, text-driven reading of substantial Hebrew selections from representative Psalms. In each session we will read the Hebrew aloud, work through vocabulary with the help of a dictionary, and then analyze the text morphologically and syntactically: verb forms and stems, pronominal suffixes, particles, clause patterns, word order, parallelism, and the main features of Biblical Hebrew poetic style.
Alongside the language work, the course explains key cultural and historical concepts that illuminate the Psalms—temple worship and sacrifice, royal and covenant imagery, ancient Near Eastern poetic conventions, and the social world of lament, praise, and thanksgiving. The goal is to help participants move from decoding to confident, well-argued reading, grounded in the Hebrew text.
